thoughts on process
In June 2022 we we able to test our display dome at the annual UWE Bristol degree show.
New challenges involved matching up the four projector images from a shorter distance and placing our video content more accurately on the 5 large pentagons of the dome to increase symmetry and enhance the experience.
Display team: Mic Palmer (projection mapping), Tom Garne (technical guru), Natanya Ford (UWE project manager).
For Health and Safety reasons we could not allow the audience to enter the dome, so this time we delivered an outside-only projection, supported by live music from our talented Music Technology students nearby.
Improvements for future events include use of a datapath 4x video splitter to sync our content with greater precision and a cloth-based dome cover. While the paper worked incredibly well as a projection surface, the cover will help us cut down on assembly time.
Many thanks to the Faculty of Environment and Technology’s Enterprise, Knowledge Exchange and Public Engagement Fund for supporting us again.
